My role
I developed the concept, designed the study experience, built it with Codex, and iterated on the questions, navigation, rewards, and visual identity.
Deployed a personalized optometry-law study app with 114 practice questions, saved progress, and 20 collectible cat stickers.

My wife was preparing for the California Laws and Regulations Examination (CLRE), part of becoming licensed to practice optometry in California. She was used to studying difficult subjects, but the dense legal material and cases made it hard to stay motivated. I wanted to turn her 70+ page review guide into active practice, with explanations and rewards to keep her going.
I built a study website with 114 practice questions, organized by topic into 20-question rounds. Each question includes an explanation, a source reference, and a memorable way to understand the concept.
To make studying more rewarding, I added 20 collectible cat stickers. Every 10 correct answers unlocks a new sticker in the sticker drawer.
Progress and the sticker collection are saved so she can pick up where she left off.
Reward timing and navigation shaped how inviting the app felt. I refined the sticker unlocks, drawer, and visual identity alongside the study functionality to sharpen my user experience design skills.
I would observe real study sessions to identify confusing questions, create more scenario-based questions like those on the exam, improve explanations, and check whether the rewards support the learner’s focus.
